My desire to raise Australian Shepherds began many years ago. My mother and I were at the World Quarter Horse Show in Oklahoma City, Ok. when we saw a woman unloading a crate of puppies. We had to go see them and I immediately fell in love with a big ol red merle ball of fur who had the prettiest blue eyes I had ever seen! Of course I had to buy him and bring him home, we named him Rowdy.
(My sweet, beautiful, blue eyed boy)
I knew immediately that he was different. Rowdy was extremly intelligent and truly wanted to please. He was the true definition of a "velcro" dog. Rowdy quickly became our friend and our protector. He became the center of our family. He was a best buddy to Levi who was 6 at the time. He was an informant when any other animals were not where they were supposed to be or if they were doing something he thought they shouldn't. He was a guard dog who protected us, our home, our belongings and our vehicles.
In public, he was my meet and greet Aussie ambassader who patiently allowed adults and children alike pet him, all the while taking in the ooohhs and aaawwwws over how beautiful he was. Rowdy always knew when someone had special needs. He was always so gentle and careful.

Whether it was checking the cattle or a long road trip, Rowdy was happy doing anything and everything just as long as he was with us. He loved riding in the side by side while we were in Colorado. Rowdy loved fishing! He would run back and forth watching the lines to see who was catching something. Then, when we reeled it to the bank he would get really excited and grab it so it couldn't flop away. I think it was his way helping to get the job done.
At home, he would sit at our feet, often with his head layed on our laps. When I was going through some health issues and feeling very bad he never left my side. He became even more protective of me. Later, when Slade was born, he immediately became his protector. Rowdy let me know immediately if Slade made a sound and would become very concerned if he thought I didn't take care of things fast enough! As Slade grew, he liked to get into his walker and chase Rowdy all over the house. Rowdys patience never faltered.
(Rowdy is the one Slade is petting)
In August of 2014 we went on our last trip to the mountains with Rowdy. We had a great time and I was able to take some beautiful pictures of my family with Rowdy. The wildflowers were absolutely stunning that year.

On September 12, 2014 Rowdy tried to get up off the floor and collapsed. We rushed him to the vet. The ultrasound showed what looked like a tumor on his spleen which had caused bleeding internally. We immediately took him into surgery to try to save him. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a tumor on his liver which had caused massive internal bleeding. I was forced to make the decision to put him down. There is not a day that goes by that we dont miss him terribly.
(One of my favorite pictures of Rowdy, I like to picture him in Heaven)
***In memory of Rowdy, our friend and our protector.***
When I began raising Aussies I knew that I wanted to breed dogs that would give others the joy and companionship that Rowdy gave to us. I have hand picked my breeding dogs specifically for these traits.
About Us
I am an RN turned stay at home mom. My husband and I have 3 boys, Levi 22, Slade 5 and Brody 3.
We own about 300+ acres and raise cattle along with our Aussies. We also have horses, a pony, a few barn cats and some wild critters that run around here.
I am always with my girls when they are having their pups. Even during birth and the newborn stage, our females allow us to handle the babies.
Of course, having small kids around, our puppies get well socialized! We always work on teaching our boys not to pull hair or ears, not to jump on them or step on them. However, kids will be kids and having kids around definately makes our puppies get aquianted with a lot of rambunctious activity. Slade and Brody are involved in every aspect of their care from whelping to feeding to cleaning pens. They love our dogs and our dogs love them.
